Macaroons YO!

Tonight was officially wild and crazy! Michael and I were testing out a variation on our tradition macaroon recipe. I think we got it right. They are not to sweet and not too oily, yet still retain that luscious quality that we have come to adore. We were finding that our old recipe was a wee bit too sweet and making us nauseous ( maybe had something to do with the fact that we were eating globs of the stuff ), but still....how can one turn away from a massive bowl of batter just sitting there begging for us to plow into it ? Mmm Mmm...Pure Genius I tell you.
Today was rainy and a bit chilly. I had a casting earlier, but the clothes were a bit too big, as ususal. Hmm. Doesn't seem like modeling is the thing right now. I'm certain that macaroons are a far better use of my time and energy. More people need coconut than a Hugo Boss outfit anyway. Aside from macaroons, what else really matters? LOL! You've got chocolate. You've got vanilla. It's all so innocent.

Ahh, life is great!

PS. What's going on with all of the anti-raw media crap these days? It makes me wanna die laughing at the utter ignorance that these people compile into half truths and exaggerated facts.
So silly!

Pure Food and Wine

Last night Michael and I went to Pure Food (finally) for a celebration dinner.
Wow, I was impressed. First of all, the garden area outside is seriously wonderful.
It's very spacious, yet has a nice cozy vibe to it. I dug the various seating area options that were available. Totally chic and elegent.

And then came the food! We started with the special which was a pistachio-cumin encrusted okra and crimini mushroom salad with a lime yogurt sauce. This was absolutely delicious! Reminded me of tempura.

Then we ordered black truffle ravioli with a vanilla bean horseradish creme. This also blew my mind. At this point I was nearly drunk with excitement as I anxiously awaited our main courses. We ordered this Spanikopita dish which was basically an open torte with all of this glorius creame and massaged greens and yummy flavors. Apparently it's a Greek dish that's usually made with phyllo dough. It was VERY good.
We also ordered their zucchini lasagna- yum. I knew I had to try their rendition since it's the peak season for heirloom tomatoes. It was massive and I had to take half of it home (which was nice since it was a bit pricey).

Then came dessert....and boy was I ready! We tried the tiramisu and the lemon cheesecake with buckwheat-honey ice cream and black mission figs. Both blew my mind completely. I'm still speechless. The textures were right on, which is a major feat for raw food.

I would love to take my family there and have them experience what living foods can really be about. I've offered them some of my food, but they always decline ( arg! ), so maybe if I take them to a fancy place they will alter their views slightly.

I think for so many people who this way of eating, they immediately assume there's lack and that one requires a strong sense of discipline to incorporate living foods into their lives. This is so not the case. I mean, how hard is to eat chocolate, fruit, amazing salads, gourmet breads and cookies, pies galore ,tortilla chips, pizza, pasta, ice cream and coconut macaroons?

It is my mission to present food to people that is not only worth the calories, but in fact the best way to nourish the body. I like to make my food my medicine, but I could never sacrifice flavor and enjoyment for the supposed benefits. I fully believe that one should love what they're eating, but also love how that food makes them feel. Let the changes in diet and specific alterations occur naturally, because they absolutely will in time. It's like, if you have to hold your nose to get something down, then why the even bother? Gotta play with life and food. We need to play more! Have a blast with everything you do.

Welcome!

So this is my first post and I'd like to say hello and invite you to follow me on my journey of good food, good times, and everything magical. Feel free to say hi!
